Our Trustees

There are seven Trustees on the Board of the Trust who meet regularly to govern the organisation. The constitution states that Poutiri Trustees are appointed by Poutiri Trust and its affiliated provider network.

 

Chairperson: George Skudder

George was appointed as a Trustee to the Poutiri Trust Board in 2004. He was later elected as the deputy chairperson in December 2005. In November 2009 he became the Chair. He comes with extensive experience in education, governance and strategic planning. George is involved in a number of local organisations.

 

Deputy Chairperson: Vincent Kihirini

Vincent was elected the Eastern Bay of Plenty provider representative in October 2007. Vincent has extensive senior management and governance experience and is involved heavily with his local iwi. Vincent was appointed Deputy Chair in November 2009.

 

Kaumatua/Cultural Advisor: Tamati Mangu Clarke

Tamati (also known as Mangu) was appointed the cultural advisor in October 2007. Mangu is a trustee and advisor for a number of national organisations.

 

Kaumatua/Cultural Advisor: Nan Huritu

Nan was initially appointed as Cultural Advisor. In addition to this role Nan was elected an interim trustee. Nan has been involved in Maori health for many years.

 

Independant Trustee: Dr Candy Cookson-Cox

Dr. Candy Cookson Cox of Te Arawa/Ngai Tahu descent has been involved in the health and education sector for over 30 years. Candy was appointed to the Poutiri Trust Board June 2009.

 

Trustee: Gillian Palmer

Gillian hails from the mighty Matakana Island and represents the Western Bay of Plenty. Gillian has had a long time passion for health and brings a wealth of grass root knowledge to the Poutiri Board.

 

Trustee: Parehuia Aratema

Parehuia represents the Southern Bay of Plenty and was elected to this position in November 2009. Parehuia has had a long time passion for education and brings a wealth of management and governance expertise to the Poutiri Board.

 

Trustee: Joe Doherty

Joe was elected to this position in November 2009. Now with business and local tourism interests in the Bay of Plenty, Joe has had extensive experience in HR, bicultural development and central government.
