Establishment

Poutiri Trust was established in 1997 as an independant legal entity.  The board recognises that the key strength of Poutiri Trust lies in the building of the strong foundation of "Te Whare o Poutiri".  The foundation lay in its relationship with its matua base being Te Whanau Poutirirangi a Papa and through this the connection to the numerous iwi Maori through out the Bay of Plenty region.  These connections were in a health sense mandated and confirmed through the signing of the health accord between Te Whanau o Poutirirangi a Papa and the Crown in 1997.
