Western Bay of Plenty

Te Awanui Hauora

Te Awanui Hauora is based at Matakana Island, a 20-minute trip on the ferry in high tide and 40 minutes at low tide. Despite this geographical isolation they provide the highest quality whanau ora and koroua & kuia services. A community transport contract assist clients and whanau to access GP and specialist services on the’ mainland’, but if people can’t get to the services – Te Awanui Hauora Trust arranges for government agencies to visit the Island.

Ngati Kahu Hauora

Ngati Kahu Hauora is based at Bethlehem, 20 minutes from Tauranga. It delivers quality whanau ora, koroua & kuia support , Kaupapa Maori A & D service and its GP service uses the mobile Maori nursing team contracted by the Western Bay PHO. Furthermore, it supports four other Hauora to maintain GP clinics at their sites.

Huria Management Trust

Huria Management Trust is based in Judea, 15 minutes from Tauranga. The Trust continues to deliver a range of services to the people in the Western BOP. Their services include rongoa, whanau ora, and koroua & kuia support services, disability support and a Kaupapa Maori NASC service.

Ngai Te Ahi – Ngati He

Ngai Te Ahi Ngati He provides services for the community of Maungatapu. Although a small provider, Ngai Te Ahi Ngati He delivers a range of services from support services for mothers & their pepi to a koroua & kuia programme and breast screening services. Their vision is to deliver services that will benefit their whanau and community.

Waipu Hauora

Waipu Hauora delivers their health services out of the Hungahungatoroa Marae in Matapihi. They provide health promotion and education programmes through their koroua & kuia and whanau ora programmes. Waipu Hauora also has a GP clinic available on specified days of the week.

Kimi Hauora Trust continues to assist in the recovery and prevention of cancer. Their ongoing commitment to their Iwi, Hapu and Whanau in the early intervention, detection and support of cancer sufferers is unquestionable. Kimi Hauora works quietly and diligently and is nationally recognised for their mahi.

Nga Kakano Foundation

Nga Kakano Foundation is based in Te Puke. They consistently maintain sound management systems that ensure smooth operations for their contracted services that include mental health, diabetes, Well Child, whanau ora & koroua & kuia support and asthma. They have a direct contract for GP services based in Te Puke and align to Western Bay PHO. They also have other contracts directly funded from the BOPDHB.

Poupoua Trust

Poupoua Trust is based in Te Puke and joined the Poutiri Provider Network, with full ISO and H&DSS accreditation. Contracted services are in mental health – an include alcohol and drug counselling and dual diagnosis.

Rau O Te Huia

Rau O Te Huia has a Community Residential Home based in Tauranga and now stands-alone as an independent entity in Tauranga after the Residential Home in Rotorua closed in June 2009. A new Board and appointment of trustees from the Tauranga region is now in place with project management support having been provided by Pare Aratema through the transition.

Eastern Bay of Plenty

He Tohunga Ora Mo Rangitaiki

Although geographically isolated from major centres, He Tohunga Ora Mo Rangitaiki continues to service client numbers in its koroua & kuia programme way beyond the scope of their contract. This Hauora is a hub within its community linking with kohanga reo, kura kaupapa, marae and other health organisations.

Te Pounamu Wholistic

Pounamu Wholistic is located in the heart of Tuhoe and continues to deliver a unique service to their community that is driven by the needs of the community. A small provider who operates on a minor budget they manage to deliver a quality service to a number of clients in their area as well as clinics in Taneatua, Ruatoki and Maungatapu.

Te Toi Huarewa

Te Toi Huarewa is based in Ruatoki, 20 minutes from Whakatane. It provides mental health services including needs assessment and it has a Residential Home Contract. This is an organisation that supports and empowers people to wellness and beyond. Their values embrace integrity, honesty, respect and commitment to Tuhoetanga.

Te Wairua O Te Ora Trust

Te Wairua O Te Ora Trust operates a number of programmes and services that contribute to the improvement of the social and economic wellbeing of Maori by administering, initialising and supporting the strategic goals of the trust. Services offered by Te Wairua O Te Ora are Rongoa Maori and Whanau Ora and are delivered to the community of Waimana.

Opotiki Maori Women's Welfare League

Opotiki Maori Womens Welfare League promotes the well being of Maori women and their whanau through cultural, social, spiritual, physical and economic development of their communities. OMWWL has implemented new initiatives to assist their organisation develop. The dedication towards their Kaupapa is evident by the vast number of Koroua & Kuia who attend their programmes.

Te Puna Ora o Mataatua

Te Puna Ora O Mataatua is based in Whakatane. Services include support for mothers & pepi and whanau ora . It delivers cervical and breast screening services, home based support services, Maori Kaupapa Package Care, Maori Needs Assessment and Kaupapa Maori Flexi Respite Care. All services are delivered with a high level of professionalism and accountability to obtain the best health outcomes for clients.

Te Ika Whenua Trust is based in Murupara where they have continued to deliver services in a range of mental health programmes. The dedication and commitment from the staff has ensured services are being delivered for the benefit of their community, Iwi, Hapu and Whanau.

Te Runanga o Ngati Tahu – Ngati Whaoa

Ngati Tahu Ngati Whaoa is based in Reporoa and is the backbone of the Runanga for delivery of Early Intervention Health Services for Kuia & Koroua in the area of education awareness and facilitation of asthma, diabetes, nutrition, breast/cervical screening together with alcohol and Drug Education and Awareness Advocacy.

Te Whare O Kenehi

Te Whare O Kenehi is located at Ohinemutu, just five minutes away from Rotorua’s central business district. They provide Maori Rongoa services funded from both the Ministry of Health and Lakes DHB and there is a high demand for this service. Although a small provider they provide quality services to their clients and are big on passion and commitment to improve health outcomes for individuals and whanau.
