ACC Kaiawhina>>>

Background to ACC Kaiawhina

Kaiâwhina are community workers who:

  • advise you and your whanau about ACC
  • encourage people to seek help for their injuries
  • provide practical and cultural support if you are applying for help from ACC
  • give feedback to ACC about any questions and concerns raised by the community.

Background

On the 2nd May 2007 ACC and Te Matarau signed a relationship agreement The agreement is part of ACC's ongoing aim to ensure that Maori communities are taking full advantage of the ACC scheme.

ACC research shows that Maori don't use the support that's available from ACC nearly enough. By working with Iwi organisations with an existing role in the community ACC is trying to ensure that Maori know what they are able to get when they're hurt and therefore be able to recover quickly and effectively

Poutiri Trust is proud to be providing this service in Tauranga on behalf of Te Matarau.

Current geographical area is Maketu to Katikati out to lower Kaimai.
